Islam (Intro)



This course explores the history and theology of the Islamic traditions along with the practices of Muslim communities historically and presently. The diversity of Islamic traditions and Muslim communities will be explored. The course covers topics such as revelation, the Qur’ān, and the status of the Prophet Muhammad; Islamic law, authority, and spirituality; the relationship between Islam and Jewish and Christian traditions; colonial and postcolonial Islamic contexts; and women, gender, and Islam.
